A Internal Medicine trained physician is sought for an academic Hospitalist position at the Minneapolis VA Health Care System. The Minneapolis VA Medical Center is a large tertiary care medical center with approximately 200 inpatient medicine meds and draws patients from the five state area. It is a major teaching hospital affiliated with the University of Minnesota. Applicants will be expected to have a demonstrated track record of scholarly success with a clinical research focus in hospital medicine. Opportunity for protected time and access to clinical design and statistical support available. In addition to the usual duties of inpatient care, responsibilities will include publishing peer-reviewed clinical projects, obtaining grant support, and providing mentorship to younger faculty. Opportunities also exist for interacting with medical students, residents, and other health professions trainees. Current schedule is 12 hour shifts with seven days on and seven days off. Qualified candidates will have academic appointments at the University of Minnesota Medical School. VA physicians enjoy an excellent hours and benefits package.
