The Department of Family Medicine and Community Health in the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania seeks an accomplished, innovative, and highly motivated physician leader to serve as a full time Chief of Clinical Services and Senior Medical Director to provide strategic direction and oversight to Outpatient, Inpatient, Employee Health Services, Sports Medicine, Obstetrics, and community affiliated practices. The position serves as a key member of the senior leadership team and plays an important leadership role within the department, across the University of Pennsylvania Health System, and with external partners. S/he will serve as a key liaison on family medicine clinical services at the Clinical Practices of the University of Pennsylvania to drive operational efficiency and growth of services. The position directs strategy and provides overall clinical oversight for full spectrum family medicine across our growing academic practices and inpatient services. S/he will provide leadership and expertise for practice transformation for high-value care, population health, and workforce strategies through partnerships in our academic health system. The position works closely with the Chief Operating Officer, directors of programs and clinical sites, Primary Care Service Line, and Penn Medicine Medical Group. The position reports directly to the Department Chair.
The position has overall responsibility for the clinical operations of the department, leads planning and goal setting, collaborates with clinical program leaders, and assures consistent high-quality patient care across services. The position coordinates clinical operations of the department's medical staff with other services in the primary care service line and specialty services, promotes quality, continuous improvement and patient safety, and ensures financial accountability. S/he will also participate in the clinical and educational activities of the department. Other duties as assigned by the Department Chair.
Board-certified with 5+ years of clinical leadership experience in mid to large size organizations or practices
Experience in population health, quality improvement, provider compensation planning, and risk-based models of care such as ACOs preferred
