PSYCHIATRIC NURSE PRACTITIONER Full-time position Part-time or REGISTRY CONSIDERED
Reporting to the Vice President of Psychiatry and Behavioral Health Services, the professional we select will practice in our busy outpatient counseling center, providing assessment, diagnosis, evaluate patients for medication, prescribe and monitor patients on an ongoing outpatient basis.
Additional responsibilities may include:
Providing consultation services for patients in the emergency room, intensive outpatient program and medical units, this individual will confer with attending physicians to determine care needs or services. Rounding on patients and updating the psychiatrist to facilitate timely discharge.
Current licensure as a registered nurse and psychiatric nurse practitioner in the state of Illinois.
Completion of a master's degree program from an accredited school of nursing.
Completion of an accredited program for nurse practitioners, including preceptorship.
Current certification as a nurse practitioner with a specialty in psychiatric nursing.
Three or more years of clinical experience.
Current CPR certification.
Professional competence documented by references based on nursing experience, education, or both.
The analytical ability to assess a patient's condition and use the nursing process and professional judgment to provide comprehensive care.
Eligibility for core privileges and prescriptive authority in advanced practice nursing.
Strong interpersonal/communication skills essential to interacting effectively with patients, families, medical personnel, and other health care team members.
Ability to perform effectively and efficiently under the pressure of stressful or emergency situations.
