The Department of Health Sciences and Human Performance, within the College of Natural and Health Sciences at The University of Tampa invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position with primary emphasis in Public Health to begin August 2018. Applicants with a focus in environmental/occupational health are preferred.
The University of Tampa is a medium-sized, comprehensive, residentially-based private institution of 8,913 undergraduate and graduate students. The University is ideally situated on a beautiful 110-acre campus next to the Hillsborough River, adjacent to Tampa's dynamic central business district, which is a growing, vibrant, diverse metropolitan area. Responsibilities will include a teaching load of 24 credit/contact hours per academic year at the undergraduate level. Potential for teaching at the graduate level in the department's graduate program also exists.
The candidate is expected to mentor students with special emphasis on students in our majors, and to participate in service to the department, college, university, and broader community. Emphasis will be on teaching with advising and scholarly activity expected.
Applicants with an earned Doctorate degree in Public Health with a focus on Environmental and Occupational Health will be considered. Teaching experience at the college level is required. Applicants for rank above assistant professor should demonstrate at least two years of university teaching experience after earning the doctorate.
The ideal candidate for this position will have experience in teaching a range of public health courses (i.e., epidemiology, biostatistics, research methods in public health, environmental health and occupational health) and the ability to offer new courses in other areas of expertise. Industry experience or professional experience in an environmental or occupational health agency is also desirable. REHS (Registered Environmental Health Specialist) or CIH (Certified Industrial Hygienist) credentials are desirable.
Candidates are expected to have an interest in and the ability to teach courses at the introductory and upper division levels. In addition, candidates who demonstrate experience in or desire to develop inter-professional practice, leadership, and collaborations are desired. A demonstrated commitment to teaching excellence in lower and upper division undergraduate courses is required.
Salary for this position is competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience.
