We currently have an opening at the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda, MD for a Palliative Care Physician. This is a great opportunity to work at one of the most prominent military hospitals in the country.
Provide inpatient and outpatient consultation services in palliative care.?
Facilitate clarification of patient and family goals of care.?
Consult with the attending physician and the Interdisciplinary Team to establish a written plan of care at intervals specified in the plan.?
Facilitate access to appropriate supportive care services.?
Provide full and appropriate documentation of patient care services to support professional billing for these services.?
Work closely with all rounds of interdisciplinary team.?
Provide leadership in the identification of education needs for hospital staff and development of effective educational strategies.?
Outreach to community agencies and health care settings as appropriate.
Participate in weekly interdisciplinary team meetings to review active cases.?
Assure compliance with Joint Commission and other regulatory standards.?
Work with hospital leadership to enhance the palliative care program’s community outreach to physicians,?the public, healthcare facilities, and other applicable organizations in the community.?
One year experience working as part of an interdisciplinary team.?
Minimum of one (1) year experience practicing palliative care within the last three (3) years.?
Minimum of one (1) year experience in teaching residents, student registered nurses, or medical students.
