The Sterile Processing Manager assists the Director in planning, organizing and controlling direction of functions, activities and personnel in the Central Supply Department. This position conducts evaluation, scheduling and assures compliance with TJC, AAMI, AORN, APIC and related areas. The Manager serves in a working-manager capacity, and performs sterile processing functions to assist the department in meeting processing goals and deadlines.
ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Improves existing processes and heightens customer satisfaction.
Accountable for oversight of all assigned functions in the Central Supply department.
Planning and management of the decontamination and sterilization process functions.
Provides support and supervision to front-line staff in order to assist them in their role.
Motivates staff to strive for professional excellence.
Participates in identifying, developing and delivery of education, training, and personal/professional development for CS staff.
Problem solving and flexibility with scheduling decisions and interventions.
Understands data collection and utilization of available reports and data to make decisions and actions plans.
Provides feedback, guidance and leadership – from orientation to ongoing informal and formal teaching sessions – to CS staff.
Collaborates with the Director in the review/selection, coaching and counseling processes.
Collaborates with the Director on leading staff performance standards and administration of annual performance reviews.
Works closely with Infection Control and Risk Management resources.
Proficient with the use of computer inventory systems, sterile processing equipment, troubleshooting and escalation when appropriate.
Participates on designated hospital committees, process improvement initiatives, etc.
Performs other duties as needed or assigned.
CRCST or equivalent certification
Minimum of 2 years’ experience in an Operating Room and Sterile Processing
Prior supervisory/managerial experience
Experience with inventory management automated system
Experience in CS environment
Demonstrated leadership skills
