The President of The Studer Family Children’s Hospital reports to the President & CEO- Sacred Heart Hospital Pensacola/Ascension. He/She directs, administers, and coordinates all activities of an individual children’s hospital as part of a multi-facility organization to carry out its objectives in the provision of pediatric healthcare, furtherance of education and research, and participation in community health programs. Collaborates with Sacred Heart Hospital CNO, CMO and COO to oversee operations, the application and implementation of established policies, governing authority liaisons, the medical staff and departments, and the control and effective utilization of physical and financial resources. May coordinate services with other healthcare facilities.
The President serves as the service line lead for care of children for both Sacred Heart Health System and Ascension Florida creating a regional and statewide approach for the delivery of children’s health care.
The ideal candidate for this opportunity will be a highly charismatic leader with high emotional intelligence. The goals for this position for the first 12 -1 8 months include but not limited to, the following: build the statewide brand of The Studer Family Children’s Hospital; lead the newly formed Pediatric Clinically Integrated Network into maturity; develop a strategic plan and strategic vision for the care of children across Ascension Florida; and launch the Pediatric Service Line for Ascension Florida.
Provides leadership to the children’s hospital management team that enlists active participation/support and creates ownership of short and long-term objectives necessary to achieve revenue/budget/quality goals.
Collaborates with Ascension Florida senior management team to develop and implement policies and practices to deliver the optimal level of children’s health service across the state of Florida. Ensures that these services are consistent with the mission, vision, values, and directives of the organization.
Creates a culture and environment that attracts, motivates, develops, and retains qualified associates and physicians.
Provides visionary leadership for performance improvement and quality initiatives which achieves high quality of pediatric care and patient safety goals. Ensures that the organization meets regulatory and compliance requirements.
Has overall responsibility for operating performance of the Studer Family Children’s Hospital, including financial performance, assisting with fundraising, physician leadership development, physician recruitment and development. Accountable to achieve the goals and objectives for the areas of responsibility. Responsible for participating on and taking ownership of assigned Ascension Florida initiatives.
Responsible for developing strategic and capital plans.
Has overall responsibility for state-wide initiatives and optimal performance of children’s health care services. Responsible for contributing to the short and long term strategic business operating plans. Develops long range plans for areas of assigned responsibility consistent with overall strategic direction of Ascension Florida. Provides strategic input and direction. Provides executive input into the design, construction, maintenance, repair and plant operations of the hospital, clinics, and buildings as well as new facilities for which construction is planned and underway.
Participates in civic, legislative, professional, political, and community outreach activities to achieve the goals and objectives of children’s services. Supports philanthropic fund development. Represents The Studer Family Children’s Hospital on community and state-wide boards, associations, and committees. Responsible for building and managing constructive relationships with governmental officials, civic and business leaders, educator, the media, donors, volunteers, physicians and other key stakeholders in support of children’s healthcare services and The Studer Family Children’s Hospital.

Master’s Level Degree
Preferred qualification: Master’s Degree in Health Administration, Business Administration, or Public Health
Experience creating, implementing, and leading the strategic direction for a pediatric service line and a complex pediatric acute inpatient facility.
A minimum of five (5) years in a senior executive leadership role for a pediatric service line inclusive of an acute inpatient facility in a multi-site organization within the context of a broader national system.
