The Nurse Manager functions under the direction and supervision of the Chief Clinical Officer and assumes responsibility for the Nursing Department. The NM in collaboration with the CCO and leadership team assists to implement, interpret and assure compliance with policies and procedures including regulatory and accreditation standards. The NM is responsible for implementing hospital goals and objectives based on budget parameters and reinforces the mission and vision of the hospital in all interactions. The Nurse Manger also works to develop and grow staff as well as Clnical Supervisors. Although a mostly Monday through Friday position, flexibility is required including working some weekends and off-shifts. Occassionally, taking a full nursing assignment or working as the Clinical Supervisor is required.
Responsible for providing professional working conditions for employees.
Responsible for accurate and effective scheduling of nursing department staff.
Responsible for staffing plans, management of nursing hours per patient day, and quality of work of nursing staff.
Assists with payroll completion and ensuring PTO, time worked and lunches taken are accurately captured in Kronos.
Ensures the nursing department staff performs all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/health care errors.
Assists with adhering to the the budget for the nursing department in collaboration with the CCO, CEO and Controller. Manages costs associated with personnel, equipment and supplies.
Assures compliance with nursing scope of practice and HIPAA.
Enforces compliance of the nursing department with education/in-service requirements/orientation and competencies.
Leads monthly staff meetings and communicates information to/from management and leadership.
Promotes rehabilitation nursing philosophy and practice; encourages staff development, including acquisition of CRRN for qualified registered nurses.
Assists to review and evaluate risk and quality indicators, patient satisfaction results, and outcomes in order to continually improve performance and outcomes; communicates this information to the nursing department.
Performs management activities including interviewing, hiring, evaluating, counseling, and performance evaluations of staff in the nursing department.
Assures occurrence of appropriate documentation, including documentation of medical necessity, by staff in medical records; monitors completion and revisions to the Interdisciplinary Care Plan.
Reinforces education and training is provided to nursing staff on Functional Independent Measure (FIM); assures timely and accurate FIM assessments and scoring are performed.
Assures nursing attendance and participation in team conferences.
Ensures that patient charges are accurate and entered on a timely basis.
Meets all competencies of a floor RN and takes an active role in helping on the floor during census spikes or staffing shortages.
Other duties as assigned such as additional audits, ongoing policy reviews or projects as needed. MON-HRS
As a Nurse Manager (NM) you will have:
Graduate of accredited registered nurse program. Master's degree preferred.
Current state licensure in the state required.
Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) required.
