The HARRIS CENTER for Mental Health and IDD has immediate openings for both Adult and Child/Adolescent Psychiatrists. Under the clinical and administrative supervision of the unit Medical Director, the psychiatrist advocates for the team’s quality of care within the unit, provides training to enhance the skills of treatment team members and performs psychiatric evaluations and treatment. Position requires knowledge of various therapeutic modalities and DSM-IV. Positions located throughout Harris County both in outpatient clinics and the Harris County Jail.
Graduation from an approved college of medicine with completion of general psychiatry residency training. Must be Board eligible in General Psychiatry. Must be licensed to practice medicine in the State of Texas. Must have a DEA number. Prefer minimum 1 year experience in community psychiatry, ability to evaluate patients, set up and carry out an effective course of treatment using the expertise of other clinical personnel with minimum of direction and basic knowledge of principles of development, implementation and documentation of individualized care and treatment are required.
