Western Michigan University Department of Human Performance and Health Education invites qualified candidates to apply for the tenure track position of Assistant/Associate Professor of School Health Education/Physical Education in Kalamazoo, Michigan. Qualifications include a doctoral degree of school health and/or physical education, as well as an applied knowledge of national/state health education standards, theoretical instructional practices applied to teacher education, and evaluation strategies for health education content and skills. Candidates that are ABD may be considered; doctoral degree is required by the first day of employment.
In addition to teaching a 12 hour work load per semester, candidates will provide academic advising, supervise intern teachers in area school districts, develop a line of scholarly contributions related to health education, provide evidence of meeting NCATE standards, and participate in service opportunities at the university and in the community. Candidates should have the ability to teach a variety of courses in school health and physical education as well as interest in teaching online courses.
