Reports to: Clinical Services Manager
SUMMARY: Provide therapeutic health services, counseling and case management for people who inject drugs (PWID) in a low-barrier clinic that provides Medication Assisted Treatment - Prescription Drug and Opioid Addiction services. The LCSW will be working as part of our multidisciplinary team with an emphasis on harm reduction.This staff member would provide individual and group counseling services for adults.
Participating in interdisciplinary treatment planning.
Evaluating data to identify causes of problem of individuals and to determine advisability of counseling or may refer to other specialist or institutions.
Counseling or therapeutic interviewing to assist individual to gain insight into personal problems, define goals, and plan action reflecting interest, abilities and need.
Following up on results of counseling to determine reliability and validity of treatment used.
Documenting in medical record according to requirements of company and regulatory agencies. ? Providing crisis intervention consultation.
Providing consultation/education to community service clubs, organizations, human services agencies, hospitals, and various city departments.
Program development and staff in-services.
Performing administrative functions consistent with the needs of the program.
Meet monthly productivity requirement and assigned goals.
Provide the best customer care possible, and the ability to be reliable working a flexible schedule as needed.
Identify and build upon the strengths of consumers, coworkers, and the communities we serve.
Support consumers’ steps towards recovery and wellness.
Research and utilize best practices and analyze our own services to ensure the best possible outcomes.
Attend weekly staff meetings, weekly one-on-one supervisions, monthly managers meetings, and monthly staff development days to share information and plan program work in team environment. As part of a team, share in other organizational responsibilities as required including general administrative work and volunteer training. Attend appropriate local, regional and national meetings to seek out current information about HIV prevention, treatment and care, and peer education and to disseminate information about HIPS programs to others.
WORKING CONDITIONS: This is a full time position with benefits (40 hours/week). HIPS employees are eligible for health, dental, and vision benefits 30 days after their hire date. Domestic travel is required for this full-time position. Estimated travel: 15-25% annually (this is primarily local travel). Other off-site duties include attending community partner meetings and HIPS community events. This position requires lifting 15-25 pounds; regular physical activity; regularly walking up and down stairs; and regularly sitting for long periods of time.
Master’s in Social Work from an accredited college or university.
Licensed to practice as a Clinical Social Worker in the District of Columbia.
Minimum three years experience.
An understanding of the cultural sensitivities in this type of work and the use of cultural appropriate methods is important.
Willingness to travel to different locations throughout Washington DC and perform home visits in any neighborhood.
Flexible schedules that accommodate case management visits on evenings and weekends as needed.
Available to participate in after hours on-call rotation, as well as be on call during inclement weather.
A valid driver license and a reliable car that is regularly available to you.
Knowledge of DC community resources/services is important, particularly in Wards 5-8.
Ability to maintain client records and information in an accurate, timely and confidential manner.
Working knowledge of health insurance verification, specifically DC Medicaid and managed care health plans.
Knowledge of general administrative and clerical procedures
Familiarity with Microsoft Office suite and Google Drive.
Personal qualities including energy; intelligence; diplomacy; sound practical judgment; the ability to work independently during periods of less supervision; the ability to work effectively in a busy office; and the interpersonal skills to work effectively in partnership with other program staff and others in the agency.
