Advanced Practice Registered Nurses / Physician Assistants
Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology/Division of Midwifery, is seeking a certified nurse midwife or advanced nurse practitioner for a permanent full-time faculty position at the Clinical Instructor rank. The position will be part of an established midwifery clinical practice of ten midwives. Primary responsibilities for this position will be conducting postpartum rounds for a moderate to large population of low risk patients and responding to emergent inpatient obstetrical/postpartum events as needed. Educating patients on postpartum care, warning signs, follow-up and contraception will be the focus of this position. Additional responsibilities will include educating health care professional students and residents, developing educational and quality programs for postpartum care and participating in departmental and professional activities.
This is a 40 hour/week position (8am-5pm), with rotating coverage for some weekends and holidays. The practice location is University of North Carolina Women's Hospital in Chapel Hill, NC.
A Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Nursing, and certification in the specialty, as required by North Carolina law.
Qualifications and Experience:
Must hold a North Carolina nursing license and approval to practice as a Certified Nurse Midwife (CNM) or nurse practitioner (NP) in North Carolina (or the ability to obtain approval to practice promptly after being hired). One year of experience as a CNM or NP preferred, but practitioners or new graduates with strong maternal health background will be considered. Experience in a tertiary medical center and EPIC are required. Bilingual competence in Spanish is highly desirable. Salary will be commensurate with experience.

About The UNC Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology
The UNC Department of OB-GYN is a dynamic Department with nine Divisions, including Global Women's Health. It is located in the beautiful Research Triangle of North Carolina, with other major universities, the beach and the mountains in close range. There are 8 other midwives in the practice plus the position for which we're recruiting. The Division was established in 1999 and has a strong foundation in the community. As well as working in a private practice, the midwives are involved in medical student and resident education.
