The Tobacco Treatment Specialist participation is directly related to the provision tobacco cessation services for groups and individuals in the community. Including coordinating programmatic logistics and other aspects of program implementation. Ensures defined service standards are met across program activities, adheres to established policies, procedures and programmatic goals. Recommends changes to maintain effectiveness and level of effort. Ensuring compliance with data reporting requirements, development and maintenance of program documentation in accordance with grant requirements and the Institute for Prevention and Recovery (IFPR) polices/procedures. Participates in meetings and communicates with IFPR and RWJBH hospital staff, assisting in continuous development and implementation programming.
In addition: must possess practical knowledge of tobacco cessation counseling methodologies, particularly in group settings. Knowledge of applicable federal, state and local law/regulations related to project implementation. Have the ability to communicate clearly, concisely verbally and written, demonstrate leadership, collaboration, critical thinking and teamwork skills in addressing decision making and resolving issues. Ability to work with diverse individual, with willingness to travel extensively locally or throughout the state. Work with limited supervision, with superior organizational skills and management skills to effectively prioritize, organize and oversee completion of task as well as exercise effective decision making.
Masters plus One (1) year of experience in tobacco cessation, substance abuse counseling or in a similar capacity
or Bachelor's degree with a minimum of three (3) years of counseling experience
Certified tobacco treatment specialist preferred
Must have been tobacco-free for a minimum of six (6) months before the 4 day required training and remain completely tobacco-free for the duration of their employment as a tobacco dependence treatment specialist.
