Havenwyck Hospital is a 243 bed, Joint Commission accredited and licensed psychiatric and substance abuse facility. We specializing in providing behavioral health and substance abuse treatment and are located in Auburn Hills overlooking Lake Galloway.
Havenwyck Hospital provides a continuum of individualized treatment to children, adolescents and adults needing psychiatric and/or substance abuse treatment. Havenwyck Hospital is seeking a dynamic and talented Nurse Practitioner to join our team of compassionate, dedicated professionals.
Key Responsibilities include:
Records patient history, physical and mental status examinations and interprets lab and other diagnostic test data, orders appropriate treatments, medications and diagnostic studies and provides patient education and treatment.
Works collaboratively with the Psychiatrist and clinical team regarding the assessment and treatment planning of individual cases.
Counsels patients regarding medical problems, use of drugs, expected effects of treatment, child care, diet, and other therapeutic health maintenance matters.
Documents entries in patients' medical records.
Dictates discharge summaries.
In emergency situations, administers lifesaving procedures and medications pending availability of physician.
Performs family counseling, individual and family.
Acts in accordance with established safety protocols is familiar with and able to implement emergency preparedness and infection control protocols.
Checks medication interaction effects.
Demonstrates ability to quickly and effectively assess patient safety and potential for acting out, suicidal, assaultive, or other dangerous patient behaviors to minimize incidence of injuries to patients in his/her care.
Ability to safely manage a dangerous and aggressive patient, to verbally communicate to de-escalate a crisis situation, and to protect self and others from aggressive patients or other accidents.
Must maintain status as a Certified Nurse Practitioner, including completion of all requirements for continuing medical education (CME) and re-certification.
