The Austin/Round Rock Region of Baylor Scott and White Health is the fastest growing region in the system and serves patients in a geographic area stretching from Georgetown in Williamson County, through the capitol city of Austin, and into San Marcos. The region has over 24 primary and specialty care clinics and four hospitals: the 101-bed Baylor Scott & White Medical Center – Round Rock, the 106-bed Baylor Scott & White Medical Center – Lakeway, the 25-bed Baylor Scott & White Medical Center – Taylor, a rural access hospital, and the newly opened Baylor Scott & White Medical Center – Pflugerville. In late 2019/early 2020, Baylor Scott & White Health will open two more medical centers within the region. One is our its first medical center in Hays County, in the community of Buda, south of Austin and the other will be in the heart of Austin.
Reporting to the Regional CNO, the Regional Director of Nursing Professional Development is responsible for developing, coordinating, and evaluating the College Station Region’s Hospital-wide education programs within Association for Nursing Professional Development (ANPD) Scope and Standards of Practice.
The Regional Director is responsible for coordination of nursing orientation, continuing education, and professional development for RNs, LVNs, unlicensed nursing staff and interprofessional as designated by facility. Collaborates with Human Resources and other facility departments ensuring professional development and practice are continually updated in a timely manner to reflect current evidence and trends. Demonstrates leadership in pursuit of nursing research and evidence-based practice to inform educational initiatives at facility and system level.
Oversee the operational, personnel and fiscal management of Nursing Professional Development department operations, including activities such as establishing goals, monitoring statistics, developing work plans, and supervising on a day-to-day basis.
In collaboration with Nursing Leadership, plan and set goals and objectives for education and research initiatives including effective, efficient methodology for deploying and resourcing.
Develop, implement and monitor policies and procedures as well as operational and capital budgets for designated area of responsibility in support of strategic plan
Collaborates with Academic Partners and coordinates undergraduate and graduate student nurse clinical rotations.
Provides oversight in development of EBP onboarding, in-services, competencies and educational initiatives to support quality of care. Facilitates integration of professional development nursing competencies to enhance patient and family learning across the continuum of care.
Investigate, develop and apply for grants or other funding to support nursing education and research initiatives.
Maintains knowledge of nursing trends and educational techniques and program evaluation methods consistent with ANPD Scope and Standards.
Establish opportunities to acquire input and assess educational needs from stakeholders across areas supported by Nursing Education Department. (such as Shared Governance Committee, Quality Committees, Leadership Councils).
Prepare and maintain educational resources to support quality care of populations served across continuum of care. In addition, coordinate and facilitate selected IS/technology nursing education related projects that impact patient care.
Design measurements and tools to evaluate educational initiatives and impact on clinical outcomes and staff satisfaction.
Leads and/or participates in committees related to education and evidence-based practice to advance quality of care in alignment with organization strategic plan.
Serve on Continuing Education Planning Committees for programs desiring accreditation.
Comply with requirements of regulatory, licensing, and accrediting agencies.
Performs other position appropriate duties as required in a competent, professional and courteous manner.
Master’s Degree required, Doctorate preferred

Experience with Magnet preferred
Nursing Executive (NE-BC) or Nursing Executive, Advanced (NEA-BC) or Nursing Professional Development (RN-BC) Certification
