Advanced Practice Registered Nurses / Physician Assistants
Carle Foundation Hospital is excited to add an Advanced Practice Provider (APP) who can be either PA or NP to Surgical Oncology Service at the Carle Cancer Center in Urbana, Illinois.
Practice Details Include:
Carle Cancer Center is an NCI Designated Community Oncology Research Program
The APP would practice in an outpatient setting at Carle Cancer Center (CCC), and at an inpatient setting at Carle Foundation Hospital (CFH), both of which are located on the same campus in Urbana.
The APP would provide daily in-patient rounding on all hospitalized patients for the service at CFH.
The APP would also work together with our fellowship trained Surgical Oncologist, Kevin M. Lowe, MD, PhD in our Surgical Oncology Follow-up Clinic and educate patients about their follow-up care and recognition of early symptoms of recurrent cancer.
New graduates and candidates with experience are very welcome to apply.
Mentorship for new graduates and training for surgical assistance in the operating room (OR) will be provided since the APP would serve as a Surgical Assistant to the Surgical Oncologist in the OR.
Surgical Oncology is a surgical field for patients with breast cancer, GI cancer, melanoma, and soft tissue sarcoma.
The service is staffed with an experienced registered nurse (RN) who would assist during the orientation process for the new APP.
The APP would practice in a multi-disciplinary setting with weekly GI Tumor boards and plenty of opportunities for professional growth in the organization. This APP would become an integral part of our growing GI malignancy program.
CFH is one of the rare Midwest hospitals to provide a subspecialized surgical care for patients with pancreatic and hepatobiliary cancers.
While the service has a low volume of hospitalized patients, the position may occasionally include some work on weekends for morning rounding on postoperative cases. Any weekend work would fully be compensated.
