The Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center (TTUHSC) School of Medicine in Lubbock, Texas is seeking a Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Residency Program Director to prepare and lead our new program. The ultimate goals of this program are to develop competent, compassionate, professional physicians who provide the highest quality care for West Texas and beyond, who participate in scholarship and quality improvement, and who provide academic and community leadership. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced, motivated leader to build a program from the ground up.
The new residency program will be community-based with TTUHSC as the sponsoring institution. The successful candidate will have protected time to develop the program in addition to clinical responsibilities in a private practice setting. Much of the clinical work will take place at the Trustpoint Rehabilitation Hospital of Lubbock, a 93-bed inpatient facility with a focus on stroke, brain and spinal cord injury recovery, and a new five-acre Transitional Learning Center.
Must be Board Certified in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation.
Must have recent, four years of participation as an active faculty member in an ACGME-accredited physical medicine and rehabilitation residency program.
Previous administrative and educational experience.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Candidates with recent scholarly activity such as peer-reviewed funding, publication of original research or review articles in peer-reviewed journals, chapters in textbooks, publication or presentation of case reports or clinical series at scientific society meetings, or participation in national committees or educations organizations are highly encouraged to apply.

For over 40 years, the TTUHSC School of Medicine has developed GME programs to provide excellent residency and fellowship training and serve a diverse and expansive patient population. The Lubbock campus has 25 ACGME-accredited and three TMB-approved GME programs with over 290 residents and fellows. With a focus on addressing the physician workforce needs of West Texas and with the support of the healthcare community of Lubbock, the GME operation has established 12 new programs and increased the school’s total residency complement by 43% over the last 10 years.
