Stamford, CT - Stamford Hospital seeks a dynamic, distinguished physician executive to serve as its next Chair, Family Medicine. This is a unique opportunity at one of the most respected healthcare institutions in the region.
This leader will be responsible for guiding the Department’s clinical, educational, and administrative efforts with a particular emphasis on enhancing the patient care delivery model, engaging the faculty and aligning community based physicians. Through these efforts, the Chair will grow the Department’s clinical services with a focus on improving quality and ensuring the highest level of patient safety. This leader will guide the advancement of education striving to provide the best experience for residents and medical students training in the department as well as overseeing all aspects related to ACGME standards and accreditation.
Stamford Health is a high quality community focused healthcare delivery system with a reputation for academic and educational excellence. It is anchored by Stamford Hospital, a 305-bed not-for-profit teaching acute care hospital offering services in medicine and general and specialized surgery; including open-heart surgery. The Hospital is a member of the New York Presbyterian Health Care System, and an affiliate of the Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons. Stamford Health also includes the Tully Health Center, a 175,000 sq. ft. outpatient facility that houses an immediate care center, state of the art outpatient facility equipped with physician offices, a same-day surgery center and an endoscopy center providing the patients of this region access to high quality integrated care options.
The Department of Family Medicine and its Family Medicine Residency Program at Stamford has its roots at Stamford Hospital. The Department consists of 32 members and four advanced practice providers (APP). Similar to other departments at Stamford, the Department has a hybrid provider staff model with providers employed by the Stamford Health Medical Group (SHMG) and independent practitioners. The integration and growth of primary care in the Stamford market, is a major focus for the organization. The ability to provide timely access and reduce wait times for appointments are key patient differentiators in Family Medicine.
The successful candidate will possess a strong business acumen with a record of accomplishment as a skilled manager. This leader will have a demonstrated ability to develop and expand programs in a fiscally responsible manner with measured outcomes; including meeting/exceeding budgets, assessing performance and outcomes, and taking appropriate business risks. He or she will possess an unwavering commitment to enforcing the quadruple aim and patient centered care, consistent with the hospital’s Planetree designation. An MD or DO degree and appropriate Board certification(s) are required for this position.
