JOB SUMMARY: The Nursing Assistant RN Student position is work experience for nursing students who have started their Registered Nurse coursework. The Student Nurse Aide assists in patient care and reports the physical, psychological, and emotional conditions of the patient. Meets the qualifications to provide care for patients in the specific age range on their assigned nursing unit. Performs duties to provide the highest level of patient care and maximizes patient satisfaction in accordance with the goals and objectives of Geisinger. Responsible for ensuring the very best patient/family experience by optimizing all customer interaction. Fosters a positive work environment through mutual support and cooperation and adheres to Geisinger and unit specific Service Standards. Works under the direct supervision of an RN. Responsible to the Operations Manager.
COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS: Demonstrates basic computer skills. Demonstrates basic math skills. Demonstrates effective written and oral communication skills.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: Current enrollment in Registered Nurse level studies with a goal to attain licensure required. BLS certification preferred but not required
WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Work is typically performed in a clinical environment.
