Mental Health America (MHA) is looking for a Peer Advocacy, Supports and Services (PASS) Manager for its office in Alexandria, VA.
The PASS Manager will oversee MHA’s Center for Peer Support (CPS) microsite and general CPS communications, including weekly emails and monthly webinars. The PASS Manager will also work directly on MHA’s Peer Partners program (a social self-directed care program) and an upcoming initiative to end loneliness and social isolation. This role will also support MHA’s National Certified Peer Specialist (NCPS) credential.
The PASS Manager must be able to write content in a person-centered voice that is grounded in personal experience and evidence-based understanding. The PASS Manager will assist the Vice-President of PASS in various projects as needed.

Regularly update Center for Peer Support site with new research, resources, and content relevant to peer supporters and payers
Create and gather content about peer support for weekly emails and social media posts
Coordinate monthly webinars targeted towards payers about peer support topics
Manage recipients of It’s My Life: Peer Partners grant – provide technical assistance in group start-up and continuation, collect data, etc.
Assist in creating and launching online platform for Peer Partners groups to interact and collaborate
Assist in developing and hosting online event on the impact of loneliness and social isolation on whole health
Synthesize findings from research and literature reviews to inform creation of interventions for loneliness
Assemble and send out NCPS certification packets
Think critically and meaningfully about recovery from mental illness. Applicant should be familiar with mental health topics including what living with mental illness is like, the process of starting and continuing recovery, and the importance of integrating peer support into services
Initiate and maintain relationships with other groups or individuals working on shared interests and activities
Support other short-term projects that emerge, including research projects or grants/contracts
Assist the PASS V.P. as needed

A Bachelor’s degree is preferred
Three years of work experience in mental health is preferred
Strong written and oral communication skills
Strong organization skills and the ability to keep track of multiple project timelines
Proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite of software and general PC use
Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively with diverse groups and individuals
Some travel required—mostly local, but occasionally overnight (less than 10%)
Demonstrated passion about mental health issues, particularly from a lens of people with lived experience
National, State, or local Certification as a Peer Specialist is preferred
Telecommuting is allowed.
