Cabell Huntington Hospital seeks a Certified Child Life Specialist (CCLS) to assist infants, children, youth and families in coping with potentially stressful events. The purpose of the Child Life Specialist is to promote family centered care and meet the psychosocial needs of patients and families by providing education, preparation, procedural support, psychosocially supportive interventions, play therapy, and to serve as a liaison between parents and professionals of all disciplines within the facility as well as throughout the community.The Child Life Specialist will plan and implement varied developmentally supportive activities and determine realistic goals and objectives for learning in collaboration with family members and professionals.
Bachelor's degree in Child Development, Family/Child Counseling, Recreational Therapy or similarly related field
Master's Degree in Child Development or Child Life preferred
2 years experience preferred
Professional Child Life Certification through Child Life Council is required
