The Fayetteville VAMC in Fayetteville, North Carolina is actively seeking a well-qualified psychiatrist with strong leadership and interpersonal skills to service as the Assistant Chief for Psychiatry in the Behavioral Health Service Line. This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP Duties include, but not limited to the following: Responsible for mentoring and assisting the psychiatrists and mid-level providers. This position involves doing performance appraisals, setting up and finalizing pay for performance goals to eligible providers, chart reviews, counseling, mentoring, monitoring and making adjustments to clinic profiles depends on the CUSS report and provide other guidance in the performance of their duties and patient care. The supervisory psychiatrist in this position will also meet with patients who want to discuss issues about their care and resolve any patient complaints and grievances appropriately in a timely manner. Prepares Issue Briefs, answers congressional inquires as needed. Responsible for certain aspects of the Mental Health inpatient unit to include that the admissions and length of stay meets the Inter Qual Criteria, review NUMI, length of stay, bed control, and timely discharges Responsible for preparing and implementing coverage to In Patient Psychiatric unit during non-administrative hours, holidays and weekends and prepares Psychiatrist on call schedule. Responsible for the oversight of transfer request for admittance for our inpatient unit from other facilities (initial review done by inpatient psychiatrist). Ensuring the medical staff is compliant with VHA, VISN, hospital, and accrediting body rules and regulations. The person in this position is also responsible and assists Chief of Psychiatry and BHSL Chief in preparing for JCAHO, SOARS, CAP, CARF and other related accreditation reviews. Responsible for FPPE and OPPE for providers that the person supervises. Assist Chief of Psychiatry or BHSL Chief in recruitment of psychiatrists, midlevel providers. Initial Psychiatric Evaluation of veterans to establish diagnosis and management plan, to develop a treatment plan including medication management, ordering of pertinent laboratory and radiology tests, and disposition of these patients. Documentation of all diagnostic and treatment information, and related reports into the computerized patient record system (CPRS) on the day of the visit. Documentation of health care provided, including all physician orders, must satisfy Department of Veteran Affairs and local VAMC policies/procedures, as well as meet external accreditation agency requirements for safe delivery of patient care. The physician must possess computer skills to access the CPRS as utilized by the VAMC. Orientation to CPRS will be provided by the VAMC. Prescription of medications for patients according to the established drug formulary at this facility. Variance form the formulary should occur only when clinically indicated and in compliance with the procedures established. Performance of services within the VA policies and procedures and the regulations of the Medical Staff By-Laws of the VAMC. Work Schedule: Monday - Friday - 7:45AM - 4:30PM, On Call as needed, evenings, weekends and Holidays . Financial Disclosure Report: Not required
