As a Psychologist for the Department of Veterans Affairs, you will practice independently in the provision of psychological services, engage in professional and scientific work which relates to behavior, capacities, personality, interests, emotions and mental disorders, consulting with peers and supervisors as appropriate. Major duties and responsibilities include: Applying principals of population-based care (defining role and identifying problems rapidly) Providing brief mental health and behavioral interventions (e.g., 1-5 sessions for broad range of concerns) Using time-limited, evidence-based interventions that are simple and concrete Using self-management/home-based practice interventions Using intermittent visit strategies and flexible patient contact strategies Triaging patient appropriately and efficiently to specialty mental health services Providing behavioral medicine interventions Routinely consulting with Primary Care Physicians (PCPs) and other Patient Aligned Care Team (PACT) team members about plan of care for patients Conducting effective curbside consultations Integrating within primary care team and works closely in collaboration with PACT team Routinely providing feedback (verbal and/or written) to PCP and other PACT members same day as referral Educating PACT on Behavioral Health issues as well as consultation on tips for successful care management and patient facilitation, even when no direct patient contact.
