The incumbent serves as the principal advisor in the area of the Central Iowa Health Care System's effort to develop and maintain a patient centered, recovery oriented delivery model. This entails leading the program to implement policies and procedures from the National Recovery Coordinator and facilitating implementation of recovery oriented services in all Mental Health Service Line programs as well as being a resource to the facility on recovery oriented patient centered care initiatives. The Local Recovery Coordinator has designated authority and responsibility for the design, implementation, and leadership of the facility's recovery program. The Local Recovery Coordinator's responsibilities include: (1) In collaboration with the National Recovery Coordinator (NRC), the incumbent serves as the local liaison for all aspects of the facility's recovery efforts. This includes assistance to NRC as well as staff within the CIHCS. Such involvement includes providing documentation as requested; leading staff trainings, and supporting staff in the development of recovery oriented services. (2) Provides leadership in the development and oversight of the facility's Peer Support Program. Serves as a consultant to programs within the MHSL in the development of peer support groups, consumer counseling, and consumer operated services as per local needs and resources. Local community resources will be utilized as appropriate. (3) Clinically provides input into the PRRC and the Acute Psychiatric Unit. (4) The incumbent is responsible for developing, implementation, monitoring, evaluating, and updating all plans associated with the recovery model. The incumbent conducts briefings to the MHSL Leaders to make them aware of their responsibilities in relation to those plans and to solicit their support for successful implementation. Incumbent must ensure that the plans are distrusted to all levels of management and is understood by managers, as well as employees. (5) Facilitates the implementation and maintenance of Mental Health Suite and Mental Health Treatment Coordinator projects and ensures that these developments remain recovery focused. (6) Serves as a member of the Treatment Review Panel for forced psychotropic medications. (7) Develops, implements, and arranges regular effective education and training for the MHSL, to other areas of the medical center as pertinent, and to employees on issues related to the recovery model of health care. This training includes such specific elements as motivational interviewing, motivational enhancement, and effective recovery oriented treatment planning. (8) Leads on the organization of the annual Community Mental Health Summit. (9) Develops and implements performance improvement activities related to the delivery of recovery oriented services (including treatment plans). (10) Facilitates the full implementation of the MyVA Access Initiative. (11) Other duties as assigned, particularly as relevant to providing recovery oriented clinical services.
