The incumbent will serve as Behavioral Health Interdisciplinary Program (BHIP) psychiatrist at the VA Roseburg Health Care System (VARHCS) providing recovery-oriented care to Veterans who are experiencing acute and chronic mental health conditions. This position is located in Roseburg OR. The Behavioral Health Interdisciplinary Program (BHIP) psychiatrist will work on an interdisciplinary team treating Veterans with a full range of diagnosis including mood disorders, PTSD, anxiety disorders, psychotic disorders, substance use disorders, neurocognitive disorders and who may be experiencing suicidal/homicidal ideations. The incumbent works with other assigned MH staff, providing consultation and direct patient care in collaboration with primary care staff. The BHIP psychiatrist provides a wide range of professional psychiatric services to address the complex issues (i.e. medical, vocational, educational, and social) faced by veteran patients. These direct services may include, but are not limited to: a. Medication assessment and management b. Individual psychotherapy services c. Consultation to other medical and nursing providers on psychiatric issues. d. Behavioral interventions. e. Facilitation of referrals to Mental Health Service programs for patients in need of specialized services. Additionally the incumbent: Records clinical information in the medical record according to prescribed standards and collects and maintains required statistical information; participates on a variety of service and facility committees, task groups or special projects groups to assure compliance with agency directives and goals and contribute to the delivery of health care services to veterans. Identifies gaps in services and works to resolve those gaps; Provides staff development, training, and oversight direction to MH staff members, interns, volunteers, and others as directed by the Chief of Mental Health; Provides educational presentations to staff on topics relevant to the care and management of patients with mental disorders in the primary care environment; Prepares reports according to VISN and VACO requirements, as directed by the Chief, of Mental Health. The psychiatrist will be involved in the educational mission of RVAMC. All psychiatrists, both inpatient and outpatient clinicians, within the Mental Health Care Line share on-call responsibilities. Work Schedule: Monday through Friday. 8:00am to 4:30pm Financial Disclosure Report: Not required This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after complete review of the EDRP application.
