| The Marion, Illinois VA Medical Center is seeking two full time Licensed Clinical Social Workers to join the Addiction Treatment Program (ATP) Team with Behavioral Medicine Service at the Marion VA Medical Center, Marion, Illinois and the Owensboro Community Based Outpatient Clinic, Owensboro, Kentucky. The incumbent works in the Addiction Treatment Program (ATP) which includes outpatient, intensive outpatient, residential and inpatient level of services. The program provides intensive therapy for Veterans with addictive disorders. Staff in the ATP program provide several different options of individual and group therapies including, but not limited to, Early Recovery Skills, Relapse Prevention, Motivational Enhancement Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Living in Balance, Social Support Group, etc. These groups are offered various times per week. Completes thorough psychosocial assessments utilizing the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual (DSM) and the American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM) criteria. Assessment includes pertinent information in all the required areas of functioning in order to determine appropriate diagnoses and other treatment-related conclusions. Clinical assessments are found to be appropriate to the referral question. Conclusions are found to be reasonably substantiated by interviews, observations, historical data, collateral data (i.e. from outsides sources such as other treatment providers, family members, etc.) and other data when indicated. Provides a DSM diagnosis to determine the psychosocial functioning and needs of Veterans and/or their families. The incumbent must be able to utilize this assessment and ASAM criteria in making recommendations that facilitate the Veteran's maximum use of treatment for attainment of the highest level of independence that is possible and practicable. Provides emergency/crisis interventions to Veterans in an effort to stabilize. Engages in rapid assessments and develops crisis management plans. Interventions are appropriate to the level of need and would involve a range of services including facilitation of transfer of care to the appropriate level based on Veteran need as well as referral to other VA resources or community agencies. Provides psychotherapy as individual, group and/or family interventions when clinically indicated/appropriate and when of therapeutic benefit to the recipients. Is willing to be successfully trained and implement Evidenced Based Psychotherapies. The interventions are provided with emphasis on development of a positive and appropriate therapeutic relationship which is sensitive to the clinical, cultural, developmental and spiritual needs of Veterans. The interventions are empirically supported and/or are theoretically appropriate. Treatment is arranged in appropriate intervals of time over an appropriate span of time. Provides consultation to other treatment team and staff members regarding psychosocial needs of Veterans and/or their families and the impact of the identified psychosocial problems on the Veteran's health care planning, compliance with treatment, and discharge planning. Assessments and interventions provided are reflected in the treatment plan and include Veteran and/or family involvement with goals, interventions and discharge plans that are realistic, achievable and understandable. Supervises the practice of students, interns or less experienced staff, as appropriate and based on credentials. Develops and maintains appropriate communications, rapport, and positive working relationships with internal stakeholders as well as external stakeholders including a variety of institutions, organizations and service providers, such as halfway houses, Alcoholic Anonymous, Narcotics Anonymous, Al-Anon, community church groups, etc. Arranges referral of patients to other federal agencies, state, and other public agencies as well as private organizations and gives advice and guidance to patients relative to benefits and services provided within the VA and the local community, along with eligibility requirements. Work Schedule: 8:00 am - 4:30 pm, Monday through Friday, with possibility of on-call rotation (evening/weekend) and/or change in schedule to include evenings.
