| The social worker for whom this functional statement applies is assigned to the Dayton VA Medical Center. This position is located within the Mental Health Service (MHS) with the assignment to perform a variety of analytical, evaluative, and consultative work associated with Mental Health Service (MHS) program areas. Program Analysis: - Formulates recommendations for modifying, revising, or implementing procedures to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of program operations. Recommendations may include development of new or modified work methods, procedural changes, and systems variations. - Develops recommendations for improvements in program operations to promote efficiency and cost savings. - Evaluates processes and makes recommendations for effective programmatic and service wide changes. Recommends areas and methods by which efficiency of the operation can be improved. Provides leadership with reports, evaluated information, and proposals necessary for effective direction of program operations. - Develops overarching policies and procedures for MHS in line with national guidance and accreditation standards. Formulates modifications and revisions to existing policies and procedures to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of program operations. Participates in discussions, meetings, conferences and conference calls with Mental Health Service, facility management and other VA services to secure and provide information, to investigate facts; present conclusions, recommendations, and alternatives; obtain concurrence; develop alternate courses of actions; and mutually resolve problems. - Analyzes and evaluates, on a quantitative and/or qualitative basis, the effectiveness of programs in meeting established goals, measures, and objectives. Analyzes and prepares program status reports for review at all levels. - Provides consultation and assistance to MHS Coordinators in areas of program development and quality improvement, may include facilitation of work teams/groups to assist MHS Coordinators in process improvement and system re-design. - Coordinates the MHS Quality Council analyzing areas for quality improvement across the service and making recommendations for process and program development. - Provides staff training in areas of program development, quality improvement, and system re-design. Data Analysis: -Performs work involving the collection, compilation, and/or tracking of data and statistical information for MHS national program monitors and measures. Monitors MHS dashboard reports and provides an interpretation to MHS leadership regarding areas of strength and weakness. -Creates or uses existing tracking systems entering and analyzing pertinent information to assist with determining areas for process and quality improvement in line with national guidelines and accreditation compliance. -Utilizes data sources, data analysis, and statistical tools to enhance the interpretation and value of available data. Accreditation Specialist: -Reviews program areas, policies and procedures, and overall mental health service practices to determine compliance/conformance to accrediting body standards. Patient Care Responsibilities': -Independently conducts psychosocial assessments. Develops treatment plans in collaboration with the veteran/family and with the interdisciplinary treatment team. -Engages in measurement-based care to facilitate optimal treatment outcomes. Possesses the skills to offer psychosocial interventions and to measure outcomes of interventions. -Provides appropriate services via multiple modalities, including in person, telehealth, virtual, etc. Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:00 to 4:30 Financial Disclosure Report: Not required
