| This position is located in the Mental Health Service at the George E. Wahlen VA Salt Lake City Health Care System, Salt Lake City, Utah, with duty assignment at the St. George, Utah Community Based Outpatient Clinic (CBOC). The duties and responsibilities are to practice independently in the provision of psychological services, consulting with peers and supervisors as appropriate. Clinical Responsibilities (90% of time): 1. Provides a full range of diagnostic and evaluation services appropriate to the multidisciplinary outpatient mental health setting, especially in the areas of general psychological evaluation of emotional and behavioral problems, PTSD, relationship issues, and suicide assessment; 2. Provides a full range of psychological interventions consistent with training and expertise, with special emphasis on empirically-validated and evidence-based interventions, including couples and family therapy; 3. Develops, implements, and documents the psychotherapeutic treatment plan for an assigned caseload of patients, including prompt completion of clinical reminders. 4. Facilitates patient and family education appropriate to the setting and the specific presenting issues; 5. Provides consultation services to support team decision-making, building on physician and healthcare team interventions and improving team-patient working relationships; 6. Consults with clinic staff on a wide variety of patient care issues. Academic/Teaching/Training: (5% of time) 1. Is involved in the training of medical students, medical and psychiatric residents, nursing students, and P.A. students in the assigned setting, as well as Psychology trainees. Research/Program Evaluation/Administrative (5% time) 1. Participates in the monitoring of performance measures that pertain to Outpatient Mental Health Services. 2. Is responsible for timely completion of all clinical charting and documentation required by the Mental Health Services and the VASLCHCS. 3. Participates in program-wide outcome evaluation studies.
