| This position consists of a Section Chief for Mental Health Service at the Memphis VAMC under the supervision of the Chief, Mental Health Service. The position will be housed at the main medical center on Jefferson Avenue. The incumbent in this position serves as a Mental Health Section Chief, for the Inpatient Unit, Emergency Department (ED), Community Care, & Mental Health Intensive Case Management Program (MHICM) . Major duties and responsibilities include: Developing and implementing programs, policies, and procedures to meet program goals, VHA policy and external accreditation requirements, and monitor outcomes using data-driven quality assurance processes, and implement strategies for improvement based on data analysis. Directly supervising the Program Supervisors for Acute Inpatient Psychiatry/ED and Community Care/MHICM and is responsible for broad oversight for these programs. Responsible for effectively managing and supervising the Section's resources including staff, funds, space and equipment-utilized in the development and direction of the mental health services, consultations, research, and training provided the veterans and staff of the medical center. Participating in the process of hiring and boarding staff in his/her area(s). Ensuring that direct patient care follows VACO and VISN guidelines in this area. May be involved in the training of residents, medical students, medical and psychiatric residents, nursing students, fellows and other graduate or post-graduate trainees, as appropriate. Working with chiefs and supervisors of other services/organizations to resolve any substantive problems or areas of concern. Ensuring that clinicians provide the highest quality of mental health care to veterans utilizing evidence-based practices and clinical guidelines. Providing treatment for Veterans with a variety of psychiatric, medical, mood and personality disorders. Work Schedule: Monday-Friday (Tour of duty will be Monday-Friday.
