The incumbent is responsible for the management, coordination and provision of social work services to veterans and their families on the Acute Medical/Surgical and ICU units at the Central Alabama Veterans Health Care System (CAVHCS). Patients are adult males and females of whom are veterans of the U. S. Armed Forces. The social worker also works with spouses, children and significant others, involving them in the planning and treatment process to enhance the care of the veteran. Applicants pending the completion of educational or certification/licensure requirements may be referred and tentatively selected but may not be hired until all requirements are met.
