REPORTS TO: Senior Vice President, Emergency and Hospitalist Medicine, RWJBarnabas Health
SUMMARY: The full-time position shall report to the Emergency and Hospitalist Medicine Senior Vice President (“SVP”), and work directly with the Institute for Prevention and Recovery on administrative and clinical matters related to system initiatives and best practices to improve the care delivered to patients with substance abuse disorders (SUD).The Director of Addiction Medicine will establish working relationships with other service line leaders and areas of operations directly contributing to the vitality of Emergency Medicine practices under the Service Line.
HIGHLIGHTED PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Director of Addiction Medicine will be an Emergency Medicine liaison for Addiction Medicine for the entire RWJBarnabas Health System
The Director would be required to attend Emergency Medicine Leadership Meetings, Emergency Medicine Collaborative Meetings, and Tackling Addiction Task Force Meetings
The Director would be required to provide daily updates to Emergency Department Chairs Members of RWJBH
In collaboration with The Institute for Prevention and Recovery (IFPR), the Director of Addiction Medicine will establish local Tackling Addiction Taskforces and Emergency Department-based Bridge Clinics
The Director would be creating the standardization of order sets and practice related to substance use disorder and pain across the service line including all EHR related projects
The Director will collaborate with the IFPR Research and Evaluation Team to create and maintain an Emergency Medicine SUD Tableau Dashboard in order to track all related metric progress
The Director would support and lead efforts to increase MOUD (Buprenorphine) throughout our healthcare system’s Emergency Departments. This will include providing trainings and at the elbow technical assistance to providers system wide.
The Director would be acting in a faculty or teaching capacity for our residency programs, to change the learning experience and approach to substance use disorder patients for the Emergency Medicine Residents and APPs
The Director would be involved in clinical research in collaboration with IFPR and the Rutgers Addiction Research Center (RARC)
The Director would be required to work clinical shifts (50-80 hours per month)

REQUIREMENTS
American Board of Emergency Medicine (ABEM) Certified
Preference given to board certification or Fellowship completion in Addiction Medicine
Several years of clinical experience (preferred)
Strong clinical leader with experience driving improvements in quality and safety
Commitment to academic excellence including prior experience in resident education and clinical research
All candidates must be licensed or eligible for licensure in the State of New Jersey
Candidate should have exceptional interpersonal skills, strong clinical background and keen understanding of how to drive and maintain clinical quality standards
