								<description>Houston, Texas,  Lake Jackson VA Clininc is seeking a full-time Psychiatrist to join our team in Lake Jackson, TX. The Psychiatrist will perform psychiatric evaluations, treat patients with problems of personality, emotional adjustment, or mental illness. The psychiatrist will prescribe medications as deemed necessary for the treatment of mental illnesses and recommend appropriate therapy based on precedent and standards of the profession. Psychiatrist will also oversee the treatment performed by medical students and psychiatry residents; and instruct&#xa0; them in the typical patterns of progression of mental illnesses during treatment. 
 &#xa0;&#xa0; Work Schedule: &#xa0;&#xa0; Monday - Friday 8:00am - 4:30pm&#xa0; 
 &#xa0;&#xa0; Qualifications: 
 
 Must be a U.S. Citizen (*will consider non- citizen candidates*) 
&#xa0;
 Full and unrestricted license from any U.S. State 
&#xa0;
 Board Certified/Board Eligible (Preferred) 
&#xa0;
 Strong knowledge of psychopharmacology and evidence-based psychiatric and psychological practices. (Preferred) 
&#xa0;
 Must be highly motivated, team-oriented, and committed to the care and good health of our Veterans.

 Typical shift M-F, 8:00am-4:30pm, Night/Weekend/Holiday on-call by rotation&#xa0;

 Evaluate and manage patients admitted to mental health inpatient service, and outpatient clinics including performing history and physical examinations. 
 Provide coverage to evaluate and manage mental health veterans in the Emergency Department, and consultation liaison service as needed. 
 Write prescriptions for medications, including controlled medications, ordering appropriate laboratory and diagnostic tests. 
 Provide education, counseling, and documentation to patients and patients&#39; families in preventive care, medical treatments, and the use of prescribed medications.

 Competitive Salary:  $220,000 - $250,000
