Psychiatric Associate - Child & Adolescent Inpatient Mental Health

Child and Adolescent unit that serve patients between the ages of 4-18

7A is a 19 bed unit and we have some single rooms and some double rooms. We provide a lot of optionsfor groups andencourage patients to attend OT, TR and other therapeutic groups. Many of our patients arrive subdued and depressed, while others arrive decompensated and manic.There are strict guidelines on the unit to ensure safety. 7A is a fun place to work and often you will see staff playing in the halls with patients. We also have a strong Unit Council which is led by frontline staff. We currently are working on encouraging more group participation on 7A. We have a lot of creative energy on our units andlook for new ways to create better programming that is individualized to the specific needs of our patients.

About this position:

• This position will be working 48 hours, every two weeks on the day shift
• Working 8 hour shifts, and working every other weekend
• This position is benefit eligible

The Psych Associate is responsible for the delivery of patient care, and promotion of a therapeutic environment as delegated by and under the supervision of the RN so that the goals and objectives of treatment are achieved on each unit as assigned. Psych Associates and RNs report to a Nurse Manager.

Physical Demands: Sitting, standing, walking, lifting up to 50 lbs, push/pull, stooping/crouching, finger dexterity, speaking,hearing and visual.

Mental Demands: Frequent people contact, irregular work schedule, detailed work, frequent interruptions, decisions making skills, concentration, ability to work independently, multitasking, organizations skills, working with others.

Physical Environment: Noise, infectious disease, moving machinery, fumes/gases, human tissue/fluids, radiation, telephone usage, chemicals, biohazard matl and work inside.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelors Degree
• Basic Life Support Certification

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelors Degree in Psychology or Human Services Field
• Experience working in the mental health field
